Board of Education Meeting Tuesday August 19th 7:30pm

The next meeting of the D96 Board of Education will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 7:30pm at Hauser Junior High School, 65 Woodside Road. Citizens of the community are encouraged to attend the meetings, if interested.


5th Grade Parent Orientation

Orientation for parents of 5th graders moving to Hauser will be held Wednesday, April 16, at 7:00 pm in the Hauser Auditorium. All 5th grade parents are also invited to attend the Hauser PTA meeting at 6 pm that night in the Hauser Cafeteria. Hauser principal Leslie Berman and the 6th grade teachers will be making presentations to the PTA. Light refreshments will be served. For more information contact Cathy Louthen.

This is a friendly reminder; please send in the 5th grade Games Night permission slip by this Friday, April 11, 2008.  If you need a copy of the permission slip please click the following link to print out a copy,  5th Grade Games Night Permission Slip

If you would like to volunteer for the games night, a fun evening of games that bring together all the incoming District 96 sixth graders to get to know eath other and Hauser, please email Olga Pribyl at pierdinock@sbcglobal.net

To Central School Families;

The Central School Leadership Team (C.L.T.) would like your input about our school.  We would like each family to complete one School Satisfaction Survey.

  • The responses to the survey will be used to understand how we are doing at school
  • This information will be used to set future goals
  • The information will only be shared wtih the C.L.T. and only used for internal improvement purposes
  • The survey can be found on the District 96 website; www.district96.org
  • Click on the District 96 Elementary School Survey, one per family please.  Surveys should take about 15 minutes to complete
  • Surveys need to be completed by Thursday March 20, 2008

3 Volunteers needed for Early Childhood Screening

District 96 and Central School PTA needs your help for Early Childhood Screening.  Early Childhood Screening is being held at Central School on February 21st and 22nd

  • One volunteer is needed for Thursday, February 21st, 8:00 am - 12:30 pm
  • Two volunteers are needed for Friday, February 22nd, 8:00 am - 12:30 pm

Responsibilities may include; greeting and welcoming preschoolers as they arrive for assigned appointments, helping them feel comfortable, walking them from station to station to be screened by the District’s Professionals or assisting the D96 screeners.

The day is very rewarding and fun.  The first appointment starts at 8:30am.  Volunteers are needed to arrive between 8:00 - 8:10 am to get your assignment and to become familiar with the layout of the screening stations.

 Dear Central School Families:

I am happy to announce that Ms. Noelle Serio has been hired as the long term substitue teacher for the students in Ms. McCarthy’s class and the fifth grade.  Ms. Serio has student taught in fifth grade and worked as a teaching assistant in the sixth grade in Naperville.  She is a graduate of the University of Iowa and has taught guided reading.  She is also familiar with the University of Chicago math program.  Noelle has met the fifth grade teaching team and transitioned with Mrs. Spatny this afternoon.  Ms. Serio is excited to meet the students tomorrow morning (Wednesday 1/16) and begin working with them.

Please stop in at your convenience to say hello and meet Ms. Serio.
