The next meeting of the D96 Board of Education will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 7:30pm at Hauser Junior High School, 65 Woodside Road. Citizens of the community are encouraged to attend the meetings, if interested.

Summer break is here with swimming, riding bikes, camps, sunshine, relaxing and fun! I hope your summer is off to a great beginning! My belief is the more informed we are as Central School parents, the better!

I had the opportunity to attend the June 17, 2008 D96 Board of Education meeting and thought I would share some agenda items.

  • The District 96 Offices will move their offices this summer to Mater Christi in North Riverside to help clear some space for additional classrooms at Hauser.
  • Increasing proof of residency checks being considered.
  • A temporary class size change for the D96 08/09 Kindergarten class to 23 students has been approved by the BOE to accommodate the large incoming class.

If you want to continue to be informed, I’d encourage you to attend the next 96 Board of Education Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, 2008, 7:30pm, Hauser Learning Resource Center.

The D96 Board of Education Building Committee will meet on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 prior to the general session at 6:00 pm at Hauser Jr. High School in the School Library. Following is the agenda for the Building Committee meeting:

  • District-wide Landscape Design
  • Impact of enrollment increase on facilities

Central Families ,

As a reminder, the Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 15, 7:30 pm, at Hauser Jr. High School’s Learning Resource Center.

The Board of Education requested that the following item be placed on the General Session (7:30 pm) Agenda; “Consider elimination of Kindergarten Enrichment in 2008 - 2009″.  The Board hopes to hear comments about Enrichment from future Kindergarten parents prior to a decision.  Parents of incoming Kindergarteners please feel free to attend the meeting to share your thoughts.

The Education Committee Meeting is also scheduled for Tuesday, January 15, 5:00 pm at Hauser Jr. High’s Learning Resource Center.  Following are the agenda items:

  • Review DARE Program - Information
  • Mission Imperatives - Discussion
  • K-5 Survey - Information
  • Findings - Special Education Report
  • Math Program Update
