Calling all photographers! The Central School Halloween festivities are planned for Wednesday, October 31st from 1:00 - 3:05 pm. The Roadrunner staff would love photos of the parade, homeroom parties and the Halloween play. Please snap away and send pictures to Kim Frank. The photos can be on a CD (preferred) or just emailed to Kim Frank at pkjna@comcast.net. Drop off the CDs in the PTA mailbox attention Kim Frank or leave in Kim’s home mailbox - see School directory for home address. CDs will be returned to you if you note the return information on the disc. Thank you for your help. Happy Halloween and enjoy the festivities!


Spirit Wear Deadline - Tuesday 10/30

This is a quick reminder that Tuesday, October 30th is the last day to place orders for Spirit Wear items and Land’s End Polo shirts.  Samples of the Spirit Wear as well as extra order forms can be found in the Central School office.  Make checks payable to Central - PTA.  Show your school Spirit!  Return your form to the Spirit Wear box in the main office.  Thank you!


Halloween Festivities - Wed. 10/31

Central School Halloween Festivities are just days away.  Please keep in mind the following activity schedule;

  • 11:30 - 1:00; Extended lunch hour, early dismissal.  If possible, please make every effort to have your child go home for lunch in order to dress in Halloween costumes. (Students should not return earlier than 12:50)
  • 1:00 pm; Students are in classrooms
  • 1:15 pm; Halloween play by PTA in Hauser auditorium.  Guests, please sit in the balcony
  • After the play, ~1:40 ish; Halloween Parade; outside if weather permits. Parents please try to spread out along the sidewalks to provide spectators in many places along the parade route
  • 2:00 -3:00 pm; Room parties; Room parents will assist in each classroom.  If you have a preschooler with you, childcare will be provided by PTA for room parents and the PTA play cast members in the small gym(champions room)
  • Kindergarten Information: There will be no morning kindergarten on Wednesday, October 31st.  All Kindergarteners will join the festivities from 1:00 - 3:05 pm. Kindergarten Enrichment students will attend in the morning and they are encouraged to go home and change into their costumes.  If this is not possible, please let the Kindergarten Enrichment teacher know. 
  • Trick or Treating hours in Riverside are 3:00 - 7:00 pm

75 Soda Cans Needed

Please save your soda cans for a new experiment!

The Science in a Can Committee needs your help.  The Committee is looking for about 75 empty soda cans for this years science program.  Please save your rinsed soda cans (with or without the pulltab/ring) and bring them to the next PTA meeting on Tuesday, November 6th.  The cans can also be delivered to a box on the porch of Kim Frank’s house (across from the school) or Linda Roberto’s porch (see the Directory for house address).

Spirit Wear Sale; 10/17 - 10/30

Show your school Spirit! The Central School Spirit wear sale has started and will run through Tuesday, October 30th. This year Central PTA is offering a variety of Spirit wear. Families can purchase the always popular selection of t-shirts, sweatshirts, flannel pants and a new option of a baseball tee or polo shirts from Land’s End.

The information flyer/order forms were sent home in the backpacks on Wednesday 10/17. Samples of the Spirit wear items can also be viewed in the Central School office or by clicking on the following link to view the baseball tee or spirit wear sweatshirt.

Veteran’s Day Program; Date/Time Change

Central/Hauser Families;

Please mark your calendar with the following change.  The Veteran’s Day program at both Central and Hauser are being moved to Wednesday November 7th (original date was Friday November 9th).  Central School’s program will be in the morning from 10:30 - 11:30 and Hauser’s program will be in the pm (time - TBD).  Thank you for noting the change.


Brownie Troop 657 Collecting Used Play Shoes

Through November 16th, Central School’s 2nd grade Brownie Troop 657 will be collecting used play shoes to send to an orphanage in Guatemala. Used play shoes (no dress shoes please) in good condition can be placed in a collection box outside the Central main office (by the drinking fountain) or can be dropped off on the enclosed porch at 277 Gage Road. Thank you in advance for your donation.
