Dr. Mary Polk, our Director of Special Education, is recuperating from a fall that broke her leg. Dr. Polk lives here in Riverside. The schools are taking turns helping with meals for the family. Central is responsible for dinner at 5pm on March 28 and 30, and April 2, 4 and 6. Those who would be willing to volunteer to prepare and deliver a meal can sign up in the office or call Mrs. Catalano at 447-1106 for more details.

The calendar for the current year (so far just March and April), with all the schools’ activities listed, is now available on the District 96 website. Next year it’s likely that the online version will replace the spiral-bound printed calendar that is distributed at the beginning of each school year. Having the calendar online will allow corrections and changes to be made during the year.

One additional change has been made to the proposed District 96 calendar for 2007-2008. A teacher institute day is now scheduled for Monday, August 27, and students would begin school on Tuesday, August 28. The last day of school would be Thursday, June 5 rather than Wednesday, June 4. The proposed school calendar is one of the items on the Board of Education agenda for its March 20 meeting.
