We’re headed into year two of the Central PTA website and we were trying to figure out what to do with the old posts. Some of them have value, for example explaining how things worked at a fundraiser or providing a description of a committee or even the meeting minutes. But we didn’t want people searching for Garden Gurus to end up seeing that the Garden Gurus are looking for helpers this Thursday (which happened to be in April and May 2006), then just show up on Thursday and be all alone with their tools.
So, we left everything on the site, but have added this notation to the top of all posts made prior to July 1, 2006:
This information was originally posted on May 18, 2006. If this information is time sensitive, please do a reality check and put things in their proper context. Some of the old information is still useful, which is why we’ve left it here in the archives. Thanks.
On the site, it will look like this:

Thanks.
Central’s PTA is still welcoming new and returning members for the 2006-2007 school year. There will be a PTA table at school on the first day. Stop by and sign up. We will have extra membership materials at our table, but if you’d like to expedite the process, download an application, fill it out, and bring it with a check for $15 made payable to “Central School PTA”.
Remember, if you’re planning on being a room parent, cultural arts, library, or other classroom volunteer, you need to be a PTA member.
The PTA encourages ALL families to join. We do not want economic issues to stand in the way of any family who wishes to participate. If the membership fee is hampering your ability to become a member, please contact Mrs. Catalano in the school office, who will make sure it is handled confidentially.
See you at school!

A beautiful flier announcing the meeting is also available for download as a PDF.
Class lists will be posted on the main Central door on Thursday, August 24.
Enrollments at Central exceeded class capacities in all grades except kindergarten and 4th. Enrollments in first grade exceeded capacity district-wide. At the Board of Education meeting on August 22 the board reaffirmed their commitment to the limit on class size (20 students in K-3 and 24 students in 4-5), and if necessary, new enrollees will be sent to a school with excess capacity. For first grade, there is no excess capacity and class size may be 21 students. Any second grade class could reach 21 students sometime during the year if additional students are enrolled.
Yes, we know: Roadrunner is incorrectly spelled Roadunner on the playground sign. The Grounds for Play Company has sent a replacement for the misspelled sign on the train engine, and the sign will be replaced before school starts. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
School pictures will be taken on September 6. We’ll need several volunteers to prep students (combing hair, etc.). Interested volunteers should contact Nancy Hopkins nhopkins@ourth.com. Volunteers will receive a free picture package in exchange for their help.
