You may notice the new signs and temporary fences around the flower beds at Central. We are requesting everyone’s cooperation in supervising our children after school so that they do not run through the plantings. If your children are picked up by grandparents or babysitters, please let them know that students should be using the sidewalks. The Holly O’Hare garden, which was installed last summer near the District Office door, will be dedicated this spring, but only if the plants survive! Your PTA funds and memorial donations from many parents and students were used to create this garden. Please help us Protect our Plants!

Thanks to everyone who has made a contribution to the Pavers for the Playground Fund! We’ve collected $2,200 to date. Our goal is to sell a minimum of 200 bricks and to have the playground installed this summer. Although brick orders will be taken until May 26, the order for the playground equipment must be placed in early May. We need to sell 66 bricks to pay for the bricks, inscriptions, and installation. 100% of the cost of additional bricks will go toward the playground equipment. Your contributions for the Pavers for the Playground program are tax deductible. Please consider ordering one or more bricks. You can download an order form here and you can find the original flier here. You can find Nancy Hopkins’ address and phone number in the school directory.

Dear Central School Parents,

Did your child love “The Tale of Despereaux” by Kate Di Camillo, “Chasing Vermeer” by Blue Balliett, or “Holes” by Louis Sachar? Are you thinking about buying the new books just published by these bestselling authors? Please wait! Our school book fair will have all three. “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” (by DiCamillo), “The Wright 3″ (by Balliett), and “Small Steps” (by Sachar)–and thousands of other titles–will be available at our biggest book fair ever. Come see us from April 4-7 in the Hauser Auditorium. We’ll be open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We’re even having a Parent Preview the morning of April 4 from 7:30 a.m to 11:00 a.m. All profits from the fair go toward books for our library and classrooms, to end-of-the-year rewards for kids who make their AR goals, and to book grants for Central School students in need. Look for more details in your child’s backpack next week. Questions? Please contact maryjo_robling@hotmail.com. We look forward to seeing you at the book fair!

Take a look at page one and page two out our latest flier, both in Adobe Acrobat format.

Mrs. Moorhead was once again kind enough to provide the lunch menu for Central/Hauser, this time for April 2006. You can download it as an Adobe PDF or Microsoft Word document.

Of course, the lunch menu is typically available on the District 96 website also, but it’s STILL cooler to have it here, isn’t it?

The Central School Talent Show audition schedule is posted in right outside the Central School office, to the left of the office door. A slip was also sent home with each child who submitted a permission slip. If you didn’t receive one of those, and haven’t seen the schedule posted in school, you can download a copy of the schedule here as a PDF or in Microsoft Excel format.
